Now they have a new handheld model, the JERRY FCC.

In this full video edition of the award nominated The Two Way Radio Show Podcast, Danny and Rick cover the recently released JERRY FCC Handheld CB Radio from President! • Overview of the Cobra 75 CB Radio With Bluetooth

Cobra recently added a new model to its lineup of CB radios with Bluetooth functionality. Called the Cobra 75, this AM/FM CB Radio has wireless connectivity to an all-in-one handset. All of the controls are on the handset itself, so the main unit can be tucked out of the way while the driver can operate the radio from the noise cancelling hand microphone.

In this video segment from episode 186 of The Two Way Radio Show Podcast, Rick provides a brief overview of the Cobra 75 and all of its key features and specifications. The Cobra 75 All Road Wireless CB Radio with AM/FM + Bluetooth is available from Buy Two Way Radios.

  • Is it the End of the Line for the CB Radio?

There has been a lot of talk about the purported death of the CB radio. While it is true that CB no longer enjoys the public popularity it had in its heyday during the 1970’s, does that make it a dead radio service? Is it really the end of the line for the CB radio?

In this extended video segment from episode 186 of The Two Way Radio Show Podcast, Rick explores the question and uses the recent release of two new CB radios to explain why CB radio may actually be thriving in 2024.

These two new radios include the Cobra 75 All Road Wireless CB Radio with AM/FM + Bluetooth and the President GEORGE FCC AM/FM/SSB CB Radio.

  • New President GEORGE FCC CB Radio Has AM, FM and SSB

President George FCC AM/FM/SSB CB RadioIn 2021 the FCC changed the Part 95 rules to allow Frequency Modulation (FM) on the CB radio service. The President Group immediately took advantage of it. President has spent the last couple of years updating its line of CB radios to add FM functionality to a select assortment of models. Now there is one more in that lineup, but this is a brand new model, and it has one more feature that some of the others don't have.

This is the President George FCC. It has AM, FM, and - wait for it - Single Side Band functionality. Yes, that's right, SSB. This radio delivers the maximum 4 watts of power that's allowed on CB, and combines the latest technology and high sensitivity with FM and SSB to deliver the best experience possible on the CB.

This is a full featured CB radio that is engineered to be top of the line. It operates on 40 CB radio channels in AM, FM, upper side band and lower Side Band modes. It transmits up to 4 watts and AM and up to 12 watts PEP on the upper side band and lower side band.

The GEORGE FCC has most of the standard features included in many other President models. It has 7 weather channels, a weather alert, public address capability, and of course the 7 color multi-function LCD display that is common on many of their other models. This is a popular feature, as it allows you to color co-ordinate your display for the inside of your cab or your vehicle.

Of course, the GEORGE also has channel scan, tone, channel rotary switch, manual squelch and ASC. It has all the usual filters that are included with most of the other President models. it also has a power reading and an SWR meter, and a VU meter. Other features include talkback, a hands-free VOX function, beep function, roger beep, and F function key.
There is also a mode switch so you can just instantly switch it back and forth between AM, FM, upper side band and lower side band, and a preset emergency EMG1 and EMG2.

Now, at 7.28 inches x 6.77 inches x 2.20 inches, this is not exactly the smallest CB radio on the market, but it's not overly large, either. This puts it at a pretty decent size for fitting into most vehicles and cabs.

The package includes the radio, ultra light electret microphone with support, a power cord, fuse, mounting bracket and the screws to go with it. Price: $279.00.

    Programming the KG-S72C
As with other Wouxun radios, the KG-S72C is customizable directly from the keypad of the radio itself. Optional programming software allows you to assign CTCSS tones and DCS codes to the 40 CB channels when using the radio in FM mode. You can also configure other functions and features in the radio.

    Direct from the radio
If you already know how to program features into another Wouxun radio, programming the KG-S72C directly from the radio itself is pretty much rote. The only real differences are the menu options themselves.

If you are new to Wouxun handheld radios or configuring a two way radio in general, the KG-S72C owners manual will get you up to speed fast. Unlike many other import radios, this manual is carefully written in plain, simple English with clear instructions that are easy to understand, even when explaining some of the advanced features of the radio.

The KG-S72C menu consists of 43 items. Default settings are bold.

    Programming with software
The KG-S72C uses the Wouxun PCO-001 USB programming cable that works with the KG-S88G. Refer to the cable driver installation instructions for more information.

Of course, the Wouxun KG-S72G programming software is specific to this radio and is currently available for Windows PCs only. The programming software is located under the Downloads tab on the Wouxun KG-S72C product page at Buy Two Way Radios.

    Wouxun KG-S72C FrontKG-S72C Operation
The KG-S88G is quite similar in features and function to most of the other Wouxun handheld radios, with the exception of the 4-key keypad. Although it seems to be limiting on the surface, 4 key operation allows access to premium features while it simultaneously simplifies control. If you already have another Wouxun radio that is field configurable such as the KG-905G , working the S72C will be a similar experience. Even if you are not familiar with the operation of a 4-key Wouxun radio, it's not difficult to master, once you know how to navigate the menu.

The keys on the keypad and their primary functions are listed below:

    Button Operation
MENU Enter program menu|choose/set menu option
UP Key Select previous channel/frequency|Select menu option
DOWN Key Select next channel/frequency|Select menu option
    EXIT Exit menu/cancel

The Wouxun KG-S72C is a compact, powerful and rugged CB radio that offers a lot of flexibility and ease of use at a very competitive price. Why settle for those older, behemoth handheld CB radios when you can have something more stylish and with the latest tech available? The answer is simple. Choosing the KG-S72C is a no-brainer.
