The Midland AVP-H8 throat microphone is a great item for those in high noise environments. It is VOX capable and has a PTT switch and is good option for paintball players or for other situation where you need your hands free. A clear surveillance style earpiece with mushroom tipped connector fits discretely inside the ear.

The flexible throat microphone wraps around neck and transmits from vibrations in the throat. Background noise is not transmitted.

Works with most Midland FRS/GMRS radios such as the Midland G, GXT, and LXT series radios.

Rating

The transmission with these was totally muffled on both ends. We tried them in different radios and at different distances but all we got was incomprehensible mumble. Very disappointing.

I use it skiing, and it works fine. It stays under my coat out of the weather except for the transmit button which I wrapped in a bit of plastic. I would like the wire to the transmit button to be twice as long so I could run it down the inside of my jacket sleeve and keep it out of the weather, but it is too short for that and I have to run it outside my jacket collar and hook it to the front of my jacket. It works fine there, but it is exposed to the elements. All in all, I like it better than any headset/earpiece that I've tried.
