The MB400 is ready for use right from the box. It has 4 watts of power for extended talk range and 16 channels with pre-programmed business frequencies used by other popular business radios. It is also PC programmable, so you can customize your MB400 using any of the 99 business specific frequencies and 142 CTCSS/DCS codes built right in. No training is required to operate it. The MB400 is a ready-to-to go radio that includes everything you need to get your operators on the air!

The Midland MB400 features a monitor function, scan function, emergency call tone and voice channel announce. It also has two programmable side keys. The lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack provides up to 10 hours of battery power. The MB400 is also repeater compatible for even greater range!

Issue with available business band frequencies review by BobW on 7/23/2021

Rating

This seems like a solid radio but there is an issue with programming the radio for specific business band frequencies.
The frequency range of this radio is listed as UHF (450-470 MHz) but the Midland programming software only supports "99 Business Specific UHF Frequencies." These frequencies are listed in the MB400 manual, which can be downloaded from buytwowayradios.com. Unfortunately, the frequencies my organization is licensed for under FCC Part 90 is not included in the list.

I contacted Midland USA technical support and they were able to provide me with a programming file that handles our frequencies. Yay!

I don't understand why Midland chose to do this. It is unlike any other business band radio I've worked with.

We use them as a communication tool in our (8) person maintenance department. The audio is a lot better than the BR200 we use to use. The 4 watts of power also helps punch through the walls all around our manufacturing plant. They have added to our efficiency for sure.
